I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately and wanted to share my journey and some tips for anyone looking to enhance their home lighting setup. 
A few months ago, I decided to upgrade my LED strip setup to something more versatile and energy-efficient. I came across the Govee LED strips and paired them with Shelly 2 RGBW controllers. The combination has been fantastic! I can now control my lights via Google Assistant and plan to integrate them into HomeKit for even more seamless control. 
One challenge I faced initially was wiring the strips. I divided each wall into 4 sections to maximize brightness, but this resulted in 4 separate light bulb buttons per room. While the Shelly app does offer grouping features, I wanted a more streamlined experience. After some research, I discovered that using virtual devices in my smart home hub allowed me to consolidate these into a single button control. It was a bit of a workaround, but the result is worth it! 
For anyone looking to achieve a similar setup, here are a few tips:
- Plan your wiring carefully: Decide how many zones you need before installation to avoid unnecessary complexity.
- Leverage virtual devices: They can be a lifesaver for simplifying control interfaces.
- Experiment with automation: Pair your lights with motion sensors or schedules for a truly hands-off experience.
