I’ve recently made some changes with my network and a thing that has frustrated me a bit is that there’s no way to set a Wi-Fi network to apply it automatically to each device. Instead, I have to go inside each Wi-Fi device settings and apply it manually. Which, if you have a few Wi-Fi devices, isn’t the biggest deal, but it becomes a problem if you have many Govee Wi-Fi devices or configure your network every now and then like me. ![]()
That’s why I’ve been exploring ways to streamline this process. I’ve heard about some innovative solutions where users have upgraded their presence sensor batteries to last much longer, which inspired me to think about how I can optimize my own setup. For instance, using two AA batteries in series to get 3v and 1900mAh capacity, which is a huge difference compared to a single CR2032 battery. HUGE difference! about 8x the capacity of a 2032 battery setup. I’m hoping to implement similar upgrades for my other devices soon.
Another thing I’ve been curious about is the integration of multiple brands. I’ve been using Govee devices alongside other smart home brands, and it’s been a bit of a challenge to get everything working seamlessly. However, I’ve found that with some creativity and a bit of tinkering, it’s possible to create a cohesive system. For example, setting up a CoRe piston to open the correct garage door based on the presence of a vehicle. This way, the gate opens just as we’re going down the driveway for the correct car. It’s a simple project, but it makes a big difference in daily convenience.
I’ve also been experimenting with automating my lighting setup. Using Govee Ambilight for my 43-inch TV has been a game-changer, and I’m excited to see if they release a version for 50-inch TVs soon. It would be a cool addition for those who don’t have a massive TV setup. Speaking of which, I’ve been using Govee smart bulbs for a while now, and I can’t tell the difference between them and other smart bulbs I’ve tried. They’ve been reliable and energy-efficient, which is a big plus.
Overall, my experience with Govee devices has been overwhelmingly positive. The ability to customize and automate my smart home has made my life easier and more enjoyable. I’m looking forward to seeing what new features and products they release in the future. If you’re considering adding some smart devices to your home, I highly recommend giving Govee a try! ![]()
