Enhancing Thermostat Device Tiles for Better Visibility

Hey everyone! I’ve been using smart thermostats for a while now, and I’ve got to say, they’ve really transformed how I manage my home’s temperature. However, I’ve always felt that the default device tiles could use a bit more information to make them truly useful at a glance. Let me share my experience and maybe spark some ideas for others!A while back, I noticed that my thermostat’s device tile only showed the current temperature. While that’s helpful, it didn’t give me the full picture—like whether the heat was on or what temperature it was set to. This left me constantly opening the detailed view, which felt a bit cumbersome. I decided to dive into the thermostat driver’s profile to see if I could tweak it for better visibility. After some research and experimentation, I managed to modify the profile to include the current temperature, the thermostat mode (indicated by a filled or empty circle), and the setpoint temperature. The result? A much more informative tile that tells me everything I need to know at a glance! For example, when the thermostat is in heating mode, I see a filled circle, and when it’s off, an empty one. This small change has made a world of difference in how I interact with my thermostat.I’d love to hear if others have made similar improvements or have suggestions for enhancing device tiles further. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most out of our smart home setups!
