Enhancing Wyze Device Management with 'Add This Again' Feature

As a long-time user of Wyze devices, I’ve always appreciated the simplicity and affordability they bring to smart home automation. However, I’ve encountered a recurring issue that, while manageable, could be streamlined with a simple feature addition: a ‘Re-Add’ or ‘Add This Again’ option for devices that need to be reconnected after a reset or malfunction.

Currently, if a Wyze camera or sensor stops working, the process to fix it involves resetting the device, deleting it from the app, and then going through the setup process anew. This can be time-consuming, especially if the device has been configured with specific names, shared settings, or integrated into routines. Imagine the convenience if, after resetting the device, users could simply click a ‘Re-Add’ button in the app. This would preserve all existing configurations, saving time and reducing frustration.

For instance, if my Wyze camera stops responding, I’d reset it and then use the ‘Re-Add’ option. The app would recognize the device, retain its settings, and integrate it back into my existing setup without needing to recreate rules or reconfigure sharing. This would not only simplify troubleshooting but also enhance user satisfaction, especially as Wyze continues to expand its product line.

I’d love to hear others’ thoughts on this idea. Have you encountered similar situations? Would a ‘Re-Add’ feature be beneficial in your experience? Let’s discuss how we can make Wyze devices even more user-friendly!
