Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts!
I wanted to share a fantastic solution I recently discovered for automating my Tuya vacuum cleaner within Home Assistant. If you’ve ever encountered the issue where your Tuya vacuum doesn’t start properly from the docked mode, this might be the fix you’ve been looking for! ![]()

As some of you may know, certain Tuya vacuum models require a specific cleaning mode to be set before they can start cleaning. If this mode isn’t selected, you might hear that frustrating ‘invalid button’ error or just nothing happening at all. After some research, I stumbled upon a helpful blueprint that addresses this exact issue. ![]()
Here’s how it works:
- Requirements: Ensure you have the official Tuya integration installed in Home Assistant and that your vacuum is properly configured.
- Blueprint Installation: The blueprint allows you to set a default cleaning mode, which is automatically applied every time you start the vacuum. This means no more manual mode selection—just press start and let the vacuum do its thing!

- Supported Devices: I’ve tested this solution with the Liectroux XR500 and Kabum Smart 700 models, and it works like a charm. If you have other Tuya vacuums, it’s worth giving it a try!
- Updates: The blueprint has been updated to address some issues with device class removal and now includes a version for Tuya Local integration as well.

If you’re facing similar challenges with your Tuya vacuum, I highly recommend giving this blueprint a shot. It’s a small tweak that makes a big difference in the daily convenience of your smart home setup. Let me know if you have any questions or if this helps you as much as it did me! ![]()
