Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with ESPHome after updating to version 2025.5.1. It’s been quite the journey, and I hope this helps someone else avoid the frustration I went through.
So, I updated my ESPHome Builder to the latest version, and suddenly, all my ESP32 devices stopped connecting. They showed as ‘Online,’ but I couldn’t interact with them at all. I tried everything—resetting the router, checking DHCP and DNS settings, reinstalling the devices. Nothing worked. It was really frustrating, especially since I rely on these devices for my home automation setup.
After a couple of days of troubleshooting, I finally found a solution. I downgraded to an older version, specifically 2025.2, and everything started working again. I’m not sure what changed in the newer version that caused the issue, but for now, I’m just happy to have my devices back online.
Here’s a tip I learned the hard way: always make a solid backup before updating any software. I had a backup from a few days ago, which saved me a lot of time. I had to reconfigure some settings, but at least I didn’t lose all my device configurations.
I’m curious if others have experienced similar issues or if there’s a fix coming in future updates. I’d really like to use the latest version without running into these problems again. If anyone has any insights or solutions, I’d love to hear them!
