Hi everyone, I’m new to the Apple ecosystem and HomeKit, and I’m trying to set everything up for the first time. I’ve come across a question that I hope some of you can help me with. Is an Ethernet connection required for the Apple TV when setting up HomeKit? I thought maybe a HomePod or another wireless device could work instead, but I’m encountering an error that says my Apple TV needs to be connected to the router with an Ethernet cable.
I’ve read through the documentation, and it doesn’t mention Ethernet as a requirement, which is a bit confusing. I’m curious if others have successfully set up HomeKit using a Wi-Fi-connected Apple TV or if they’ve had similar experiences where an Ethernet connection was necessary.
If an Ethernet connection is indeed required, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the best way to manage this, especially if you’ve found creative solutions or workarounds. For example, have you used a wired Ethernet connection for the Apple TV while still relying on Wi-Fi for other devices? Or have you found alternative devices that work seamlessly with HomeKit without the need for Ethernet?
I’m also wondering if there are any specific models of Apple TV that are more compatible with HomeKit out of the box. Any tips or experiences you can share would be incredibly helpful! Thanks in advance for your insights and advice. Let’s keep the discussion positive and informative! ![]()
