After struggling with inconsistent performance from my X10 devices, I decided to make the switch to Insteon switches paired with an ISY-99 controller. I must say, the results have been nothing short of phenomenal! The system has proven to be incredibly reliable, consistently performing its intended functions without a hitch.
One of the most delightful aspects has been the seamless integration of approximately 40 controlled devices, including motion detectors, throughout my 5,000+ square foot home. The three access points strategically placed ensure robust coverage, making the system truly robust and user-friendly.
I’ve even gone the extra mile to develop native iPhone and iPod Touch apps, as well as a Windows Mobile client, to monitor and control the system remotely. This has added an extra layer of convenience and peace of mind, especially when I’m away from home.
While the system has been a joy to use, I did encounter a minor challenge with signal interference from a nearby garage door opener. However, this was easily resolved by relocating one of the access points.
The ISY-99 controller has been a game-changer, providing the perfect balance of functionality and ease of use. I’m now looking forward to expanding the system to include HVAC controls, further enhancing the smart home experience.
In conclusion, I couldn’t be happier with the Insteon and ISY-99 setup. It’s dependable, scalable, and has significantly improved my quality of life.
