I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about an upcoming integration that’s been in the works! The Automatic vehicle tracking system is set to be integrated into Hubitat, and it’s packed with features that I can’t wait to explore. This integration will allow your vehicle to act as a presence sensor, which is a game-changer for automating your smart home based on your location.
One of the standout features is the ability to track critical data such as start and end locations, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and even battery voltage. Imagine setting up automations that notify you when you’re running low on gas—this could be incredibly handy!
The integration is designed to work seamlessly with HubConnect, but it’s also fully functional without it. This means you can enjoy all the benefits whether you’re using HubConnect or not. The device selection process mirrors the familiar HubConnect interface, making it intuitive for users who are already comfortable with the platform.
For those who are more technically inclined, there’s an optional Node.js server that can be used to report real-time events to Hubitat. This adds another layer of customization and flexibility for advanced users.
I’m particularly impressed by the attention to detail in the settings. You can input any street address for presence reporting, and GPS coordinates are provided as attributes for use with other apps. This level of customization ensures that the integration can adapt to a wide range of user needs.
The release is almost here, and I can’t wait to dive in and see how this enhances my smart home setup. If you haven’t used Automatic before, this integration might just convince you to give it a try! Stay tuned for more updates—this is definitely one to watch. ![]()
