Hello everyone!
I’ve been absolutely thrilled with my recent smart home upgrades, and I wanted to share my experiences and some tips that might help others on their smart home journey. First off, I recently added a Shelly 1 thermostat to my setup, and it’s been a game-changer! I was curious if it could measure temperature differences between two DS1820 sensors and trigger actions based on that. After some research and tinkering, I found that it works beautifully with the right configuration. If anyone has similar questions or needs help setting this up, feel free to reach out! Another exciting addition to my ecosystem is a 24-channel Zigbee relay box. It’s incredibly versatile and has allowed me to automate so many aspects of my home. I’m using it to control everything from lighting to small appliances. The best part? My Homey can handle all the relays seamlessly. If you’re looking for a cost-effective and reliable solution, I highly recommend checking this out! I also wanted to touch on something that might be helpful for those organizing their smart home devices. I’ve noticed that with so many devices, it can get a bit overwhelming to manage them all in one place. I’ve started organizing my devices into folders based on their function or location—like “Lighting,” “Climate,” or “Kitchen Appliances.” This has made navigating my devices so much easier and more intuitive. If you’re working with Silvercrest Power Plugs and having trouble accessing consumption, current, or power data, I’ve found that manually adding power and consumption sensors in openHAB can work wonders. It might take a bit of trial and error, but the payoff is well worth it for tracking energy usage and optimizing your smart home setup. Lastly, I wanted to mention the ESPresense system I’ve been experimenting with for presence detection using Bluetooth tags. It’s a fantastic way to automate routines based on who’s home. While the setup can be a bit technical, the results are incredibly rewarding. I’d love to hear from others who’ve tried similar setups or have tips for optimizing this technology! Smart home automation is such a dynamic and ever-evolving field, and I’m so grateful to be part of a community that shares knowledge and experiences. If anyone has questions, suggestions, or just wants to share their own smart home successes, please drop a comment below! Let’s keep the conversation going and continue to inspire each other! ![]()
