Exciting Update: Aqara A100 Smart Lock Now Works with Home Assistant!

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some exciting news about my recent experience with the Aqara A100 smart lock and Home Assistant. Just this morning, I updated my M2 hub to version 4.3.6, and I was thrilled to see a new device pop up under the M2 hub in Home Assistant—the Aqara Smart Lock A100! This is a huge upgrade, and I’m so glad Aqara finally enabled this functionality through a software update after a year of ownership.

For those who might be wondering, the M2 hub now acts as a Zigbee to Matter bridge, exposing Zigbee devices over to the Matter network. This seamless integration has been a long-awaited feature, and it’s fantastic to see it finally come to life.

I did run into a minor hiccup initially. The lock wasn’t responding to commands from Home Assistant, and after some troubleshooting, I realized I had the “remote unlock” feature disabled in the Aqara app. Once I enabled it under the lock’s specific settings, everything started working like a charm. It was a bit of a puzzle, but solving it made the experience even more rewarding!

This update has really enhanced my smart home setup. Being able to control the lock directly from Home Assistant adds a whole new layer of convenience. Plus, knowing that this integration is now official gives me more confidence in the ecosystem’s future developments.

If anyone else is considering the Aqara A100 or the M2 hub, I’d highly recommend giving it a try. The integration is smooth, and the added functionality is well worth the wait. Happy automating everyone!
