First, thank you to the Aqara team for the frequent firmware updates and continuous improvements to the W200.
I would like to suggest an enhancement to the existing password lock feature.
Currently, the password lock appears to protect access to settings, but the target temperature can still be changed directly from the thermostat screen. For some users this is sufficient, while others would prefer to prevent any local temperature adjustments.
Suggested implementation:
When enabling a password lock, add a setting that allows users to choose between:
- Settings Only (current behavior)
- Password required to access settings.
- Temperature can still be adjusted from the thermostat screen.
- Settings + Temperature Control
- Password required to access settings.
- Password also required before changing the target temperature from the thermostat screen.
Temperature changes made through the Aqara app, Apple Home, Matter, or other connected smart home platforms should continue to work normally without requiring the password. The password should only be required for changes made directly on the physical W200 device.
Benefits:
- Prevent children from changing the temperature.
- Prevent accidental changes by guests or visitors.
- Maintain the convenience of remote control through Aqara Home and Apple Home.
- Give users the flexibility to choose the level of protection that best fits their household.
This seems like a natural extension of the existing password lock feature and would make the W200 even more versatile for family and shared-space environments.
