Experiences with Wyze Outdoor Smart Plug for Vehicle Charging

I recently purchased a Wyze outdoor smart plug to monitor the power consumption of my new plugin hybrid vehicle. The setup was straightforward, and it’s now connected to my home network. I’m using the L1, OEM charger by Ford, which is the only device on its own electrical circuit and rated at 12 amps.

I’ve been charging the vehicle with the Wyze plug for the first time, and it charged for 3 hours and 4 minutes. According to the app, it consumed 7.26 Kwh of energy. However, I’ve noticed some inconsistencies in the daily usage graphs. For example, at 2pm, it shows 2.77 kWh, and at 3pm, it drops to 1.7 kWh. These fluctuations are unexpected, as the Kill a Watt power meter I previously used showed consistent results over the past month.

For the mileage I drive, I typically expect to use below 5 kWh to charge the vehicle fully. This discrepancy makes me question the accuracy of the Wyze plug’s measurements. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their Wyze outdoor plugs? Are the results consistent for you, or did you find it different from what you expected? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have.

Thanks in advance for your insights!
