I wanted to share my recent experiences with Zooz motion sensors, as well as some thoughts on alternatives that might work better for those looking for reliable solutions.
Over the past few months, I’ve had some inconsistent luck with my Zooz ZSE18 motion sensor in the bedroom. Initially, it worked perfectly, but recently it started showing odd behavior. After a few days of inactivity, I replaced the battery, only to find the sensor still unresponsive. Following a factory reset and re-pairing, it briefly worked before going silent again. This frustrating cycle led me to consider alternative brands, particularly after hearing great things about Nyce sensors.
While Zooz has its charm with features like Zen25’s chatty notifications and power reporting, the reliability issues have been a significant pain point. I’m now on the hunt for a replacement that offers seamless integration and consistent performance. In the meantime, I’ve temporarily switched to a sensor from another brand, and it’s been a breath of fresh air.
