Experiencing Reliability with Kwikset Z-Wave Lever Lock and SmartThings

I recently installed a Kwikset Z-Wave lever lock on my front door and have been thoroughly impressed with its integration into my SmartThings ecosystem. Initially, I programmed three user codes directly on the lock using the program button, which worked seamlessly. A few months later, I discovered the ‘User Lock Manager’ smartapp in SmartThings, which has proven to be incredibly useful for adding temporary guest codes. I’ve been successfully adding codes to slots 4 and 5 without any issues.

However, I’ve encountered a peculiar problem when trying to modify or disable codes in slots 1-3. It seems that these changes don’t always take effect, which is a bit puzzling. I suspect this might be due to the initial programming done directly on the lock itself. I’m curious if others have experienced similar issues and if there’s a more reliable method to manage these codes through the SmartThings app.

Despite this minor hiccup, I’m really enjoying the convenience and security that this setup provides. The ability to remotely manage access and monitor activity through SmartThings has been a game-changer for me. I’m hopeful that with some troubleshooting or updates, the code management feature will become even more seamless.

If anyone has insights or workarounds for this issue, I’d love to hear your experiences! Let’s continue to explore how to maximize the potential of our smart home devices together.
