Exploring Alternative Batteries for APC Back-UPS 500

Hello everyone, I’ve been using the APC Back-UPS 500 (Model BX500CI) for about three years now, and it’s been a reliable unit for protecting my electronics during power outages. However, the battery is starting to show its age, and I need to replace it soon. According to the APC website, the recommended replacement battery is the APCRBC114, which is a 12V 6.4Ah battery. Unfortunately, the cost of this battery is quite high, almost as much as buying a new UPS unit altogether. This has made me consider alternative options that could save me some money without compromising on performance or compatibility.

I came across the CSB HR1234WF2 battery, which is also a 12V battery but with a higher capacity of 9.0Ah. This could potentially provide longer runtime for my UPS, which would be a great advantage. However, I’m concerned about whether this battery will physically fit inside the housing of my Back-UPS 500. The dimensions of the APCRBC114 are H: 100mm, W: 53mm, D: 153mm, while the CSB HR1234WF2 measures H: 94mm, W: 65mm, D: 151mm. At first glance, it seems like the CSB battery might fit, but I want to make sure there won’t be any issues with space or alignment before making the purchase.

I’m curious if anyone else has tried using alternative batteries with their APC Back-UPS units. Have you had success with third-party batteries, or have you encountered any issues? I’m particularly interested in hearing if the CSB HR1234WF2 has been used in a similar setup and how it performed in terms of runtime, reliability, and overall compatibility. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help and advice!
