Is there a way to filter lights based on their dimmable capability directly within the automation setup?
On the device integration front, I recently acquired a second-hand power plug with USB ports. When paired with Z2M, it’s only recognized as a simple on/off switch, which is a bit underwhelming. I was hoping to utilize the USB ports for charging, but it seems like Z2M isn’t detecting them properly. Is there a way to configure Z2M to recognize the USB functionality, or should I look into alternative plugins or scripts?
I’d also like to touch on the broader topic of device compatibility and future developments. With so many devices and protocols out there (like Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Matter), it’s clear that integration is key. I’ve been impressed by the progress in this area, but there’s always room for improvement. For instance, having more out-of-the-box support for common devices would make the setup process smoother for newcomers.
In terms of user experience, I’ve noticed that some devices, especially cameras and sensors, can be finicky about connectivity. For example, my Vera Lite occasionally goes into a sleep mode, making it inaccessible via the app or web interface. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it would be great to have a setting to keep it active at all times.
