Exploring Battery-Powered Security Sensors and Zigbee Compatibility

Hello everyone, I’m currently exploring ways to enhance my home security system without the need for a monitored alarm service due to its monthly costs. I recently acquired three Schlage Connect deadbolt locks at a great price, and I’m looking to integrate them with my SmartThings hub to create a robust, battery-powered security solution.

One of my main concerns is ensuring that my system remains functional even during power outages. The Schlage Connect locks are battery-powered and have built-in alarms, which is a big plus. However, I need additional door and window sensors that are also battery-powered and compatible with Zigbee. I’ve heard that Zigbee devices are reliable and can work seamlessly with hubs like SmartThings, but I’m not entirely sure about the best options available.

I’ve come across some recommendations for battery-powered Zigbee sensors, but I’m looking for a comprehensive list to choose from. Ideally, I’d like at least nine window monitors and three door monitors. I’m also interested in having two alarms or sirens that can notify me of any intruders, even when the power is out. Battery life is crucial for me, so I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions on how to maximize it.

Additionally, I’ve been experimenting with Zigbee2MQTT and the CC2652R Stick, but I’m encountering some issues getting it to work properly. I’ve followed the firmware flashing instructions and adjusted the Pan_Id, but I’m still facing connection problems. I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully set up a similar system or has troubleshooting tips.

On a lighter note, I’ve also been exploring non-invasive energy monitoring systems, especially those compatible with Home Assistant. It’s fascinating how technology can help us track and manage energy consumption without any major renovations. I’m curious to know if anyone in India has had success with such systems and if there are specific products they’d recommend.

Security and energy efficiency are two areas I’m passionate about, and I’m always eager to learn from the community. If anyone has insights, experiences, or recommendations, I’d be thrilled to hear from you! Let’s keep the discussions positive and collaborative. Thanks in advance for your support!
