As a long-time user of Domoticz, I recently made the switch to Home Assistant due to its extensive compatibility and feature set. However, I must admit, I’m truly missing the Blockly scripts that made automating tasks so intuitive in Domoticz. For instance, with just a few clicks, I could set up a simple routine like activating a motion sensor and turning on a lightbulb at sunset. It was effortless and error-free, which is something I haven’t quite replicated in Home Assistant yet.
I’ve noticed that some users stick with Domoticz solely for this Blockly functionality, which makes me wonder if Home Assistant could consider integrating a similar visual scripting tool. While I appreciate the flexibility of YAML configurations, there’s something undeniably appealing about the simplicity of Blockly.
That said, I’m absolutely thrilled with Home Assistant’s ecosystem and the endless possibilities it offers. The community support and the sheer number of integrations make it a platform I can’t imagine going back from. I’m excited to see how it evolves and if visual scripting might become a part of its future! ![]()
