Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into setting up my home security system with cameras and an NVR, and I wanted to share my experiences and a question I’ve been pondering. Hopefully, some of you can offer insights or tips!
So far, I’ve managed to connect my cameras directly to the NVR, which handles both the power supply and the recording. The setup works seamlessly within my local network, and I can access everything through the Reolink app. However, the moment I step outside my home, things get a bit tricky. To access my cameras remotely, I either have to establish a VPN connection or switch to the Reolink cloud service. This got me thinking—why can’t I have both? Is it possible to utilize the NVR for local recordings while also enabling remote access without the need for a VPN? I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully integrated both setups.
Another aspect I’m curious about is how this integration might interact with Scrypted, a tool I’ve been exploring for more advanced automation and security features. From what I gather, Scrypted could potentially streamline my camera setup, but I’m not entirely sure how it would handle the NVR and cloud integration. Would I still need the Reolink cloud connection when I’m away from home, or could Scrypted manage everything seamlessly?
I’d also love to hear about your experiences with camera setups. Have you managed to achieve a balance between local and remote access? What tools or configurations have worked best for you? Any tips or tricks would be invaluable as I continue to tweak my system.
Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences!
