Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of home automation lately, and I’m absolutely fascinated by how much I can customize my setup. One area I’ve been focusing on is camera automation and storage. I recently set up my cameras with motion detection, and while everything works perfectly, I’ve been running into storage issues on my Home Assistant (HA) instance. HA is installed on a mini PC using Proxmox, and I’m worried about running out of space. I’ve heard that installing Samba on Proxmox and configuring a network share on MotionEye could help, but I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. Has anyone successfully implemented this setup? I’d love to hear your experiences and tips!
Another thing I’ve been exploring is creating a simple automation to turn on lights when motion is detected. I followed a tutorial to set up a Shelly dimmer switch and a Shelly motion sensor in HA. The automation seems straightforward, but it’s not working as expected. The light turns on manually, but motion detection doesn’t trigger it. I’ve double-checked the configuration and even referenced a YouTube guide, but I’m still stuck. Any troubleshooting advice would be appreciated!
On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with changing the LED colors of my Shelly plug S+ using REST commands. While it works perfectly in the browser, integrating it into HA has been a bit of a challenge. I’m trying to figure out how to format the REST command correctly in HA’s configuration. It’s been a fun learning experience, even with the occasional frustration!
I’d love to hear how others have tackled these issues or if there are alternative solutions I haven’t considered yet. Let’s keep the conversation going and share our tips and tricks for making the most out of our smart home setups!
