Exploring Camera Placement and Protection Tips

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been exploring the best ways to install and protect my outdoor cameras, and I thought I’d share some of my findings and experiences. Hopefully, this can help others who are considering similar setups!

First off, I mounted two cameras on my roof, and I’ve been a bit concerned about their exposure to the elements. One of them is angled straight down, which means the speaker holes are facing the sky. I’ve been wondering if I should cover these holes to prevent water ingress, especially since there’s no overhang to protect them. Has anyone else dealt with this? I’d love to hear if covering the holes is necessary or if there’s a better solution.

Another thing I’ve been thinking about is the cabling. I’ve used 12-meter-long cables laid on the roof, which isn’t visible from below. However, I’m a bit worried about how they’ll hold up under the sun and other weather conditions. I’ve seen some suggestions about using conduit or even garden hoses to protect the cables from heat, cold, and UV damage. I’m curious if anyone has experience with this and if it’s worth the effort.

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with different lighting setups around my home. I recently found a smart LED strip that’s been a game-changer for creating ambiance. It’s amazing how a little lighting can completely transform a space, and I’ve been having a lot of fun tweaking the settings!

I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips on camera placement, protection, and any other home automation hacks you’ve discovered. Let’s keep the ideas flowing!

Best regards,
