Exploring Camera Placement for Optimal Security

I’ve recently been diving into improving my home’s security setup, and it’s been quite the journey! :male_detective::male_sign: I’ve got a mix of Arlo Pro3 cameras and a Wyze Doorbell Gen 2, but I’ve run into some puzzling issues. Let me share my experiences and what I’ve learned along the way.

First off, I’ve noticed that sometimes my cameras just don’t detect motion when I expect them to. For instance, my husband walked around the house in broad daylight, and neither the front doorbell nor the back door camera registered anything. Both cameras have full WiFi bars and are set to maximum motion sensitivity. The front camera is a doorbell (gen 2), and he walked directly towards it, crossing its entire field of view. The back door camera is a Pro 3, and he even opened the door! Yet, no recording. This happened twice under the same conditions. :face_with_monocle:

It’s pretty unsettling to think about who else might have entered our property without us knowing. I’ve had to remind myself that the cameras did pick up the neighbor’s cat walking the exact same route, so they’re not completely dead. But the fact that they miss humans is concerning. I’m really hoping there’s a fix for this, as I’d hate to scrap the whole system. :hammer_and_wrench:

On a lighter note, I’ve been experimenting with different camera placements to maximize coverage. I’ve found that angling them slightly downward helps capture more of the entryways. Also, using the Wyze app’s live view feature has been a great way to monitor things in real-time. It’s amazing how much you can see with the right setup! :package:

I’d love to hear from others who’ve had similar experiences or have tips for optimizing camera placement. Have you found any tricks to ensure consistent motion detection? Let’s share and learn together! :handshake:
