Exploring Custom Automation for Smart Lighting

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and wanted to share my recent journey with you. I’ve always been fascinated by how automation can enhance our daily lives, and lighting is a perfect area to start with.

I recently set up a custom automation in my home to control my smart lights based on the time of day and occupancy sensors. The idea was to have the lights adjust automatically when I enter a room, especially during the evenings. It’s been a fantastic experiment, and I’ve learned a lot along the way.

One challenge I faced was ensuring the system worked seamlessly with multiple devices from different brands. I have a mix of TP-Link Kasa switches and Philips Hue bulbs, and integrating them was a bit tricky at first. However, using Home Assistant’s automation editor, I was able to create a unified system that works like a charm.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on custom automation setups. Have you tried anything similar? What tools or platforms do you find most helpful for creating these kinds of systems? Let’s discuss and maybe even share some tips to make the process smoother for everyone! :rocket::sparkles:
