Hi everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with integrating Denon HEOS into my smart home setup. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I thought I’d document my thoughts and questions along the way.
I’ve been using DLNA integrations up until now, but I’ve heard great things about HEOS and its capabilities. After discovering the HEOS CLI, I decided to dive in and see what I could accomplish. The interface is pretty straightforward, and I’ve already managed to get SSDP discovery working, which automatically detects all my HEOS devices on the network. It’s really cool to see everything pop up without any manual configuration!
One thing I’m curious about, though, is how it compares to the Sonos integration. I’ve heard that Sonos has some fantastic features, but I’m not entirely sure what they are. If anyone could shed some light on that, I’d be really grateful. I’d love to replicate that functionality with HEOS, but I need a better understanding of what I’m aiming for.
Another aspect I’m exploring is the use of SSDP, XML, and Telnet with HEOS. I’ve never worked with these technologies before, but it’s been a great learning experience. It’s challenging, but I’m finding it incredibly rewarding to piece everything together.
I’d also love to hear from others who’ve successfully integrated HEOS into their systems. What tips or tricks do you have? Are there any common pitfalls I should be aware of? I’m really excited to see where this project takes me and can’t wait to share more updates as I progress.
