Exploring Direct Zigbee Connectivity Without a Hub

Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of Zigbee and it’s been an exciting journey so far! I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of seamless connectivity without relying on a central hub, and Zigbee seems like the perfect fit for that. I recently purchased a few Zigbee switches and outlets, and I’m curious to know if it’s possible to connect them directly without needing HomeAssistant or any other platform to mediate the communication.

From what I’ve gathered, Zigbee devices can communicate with each other through a mesh network, which is amazing. But I’m not entirely sure how to set this up without a coordinator device. I tried pairing a switch with a smart plug, but it didn’t work as expected. Maybe I need a specific type of coordinator or a particular firmware configuration?

I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with this. Are there certain devices that work better for direct connections? Is there a guide or tutorial that could help me set this up properly? The idea of having a truly decentralized system is really appealing, and I’m eager to explore it further.

Thanks in advance for any insights or advice you can share! Looking forward to learning more about the possibilities with Zigbee.
