Exploring Edge Computing with Aqara Hub M3

I recently came across Aqara’s introduction of edge computing in their Hub M3, and I must say, it’s a breath of fresh air in the smart home space. The idea that our systems should run locally, not in the cloud, resonates deeply with me. After watching their presentation, I was particularly impressed by the ‘Leader’ hub and backup hub setup. The redundancy ensures that even if one hub fails, the smart home continues to function seamlessly.

This feature is something I’ve always wanted in my setup. Imagine not having to worry about internet outages disrupting your smart home routines! It adds a layer of reliability that’s hard to overlook. I’m curious to see if Home Assistant could adopt similar concepts to enhance their local control capabilities.

If anyone has experience with Aqara’s edge computing or has integrated multiple hubs for redundancy, I’d love to hear about your setup and any tips you might have. Let’s discuss how we can leverage this technology to create more resilient smart home ecosystems!
