Exploring ESP Home Bluetooth Proxy for Smart Thermometers

I’ve recently delved into the world of smart home devices, and I must say, it’s been quite an exciting journey! A few weeks ago, I decided to purchase a Switchbot BLE Thermometer to keep track of temperature changes in my basement. However, my HA server doesn’t have Bluetooth capabilities, and I was worried about the signal strength in the basement. That’s when I came across the ESP Bluetooth Proxy solution.

The setup was surprisingly straightforward. I built the proxy, and to my delight, it was immediately recognized by my system. Within seconds, the thermometer started sending accurate readings. It was a relief to see everything working seamlessly. Encouraged by this success, I decided to add another thermometer for better coverage.

But here’s where things got a bit tricky. After adding the second thermometer, the first one stopped sending data. I noticed that if I removed the batteries from the second one, the first thermometer would resume working. It seems the ESP Bluetooth Proxy can only handle one thermometer at a time. I’m curious if this is a limitation of the proxy or if there’s a configuration I’m missing. If anyone has successfully connected multiple thermometers, I’d love to hear your setup!

For now, I’m happy with the single thermometer setup, but I’d love to expand in the future. If Switchbot devices don’t support multiple connections, I’m open to exploring alternatives, even if it means a bit of DIY work. The convenience of battery-powered devices is a must for me.

This experience has been a great learning curve. It’s amazing how a small project can lead to such interesting challenges and discoveries. I’m excited to see what other smart home projects I can tackle next! If anyone has tips or recommendations, feel free to share. Happy tinkering everyone! :rocket:
