Exploring ESPHome Addon Network Options

Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the ESPHome addon recently and wanted to share my experience and ask a few questions. The addon integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant’s web console, which is fantastic, but I’m curious about the network options available. Specifically, I’m wondering if options like SSL or addon port are relevant when using ESPHome as a standalone solution versus within Home Assistant. I’ve noticed some configurations that seem to suggest different setups, but I’m not entirely sure how they impact performance or security. If anyone has insights or best practices, I’d love to hear them!

Another thing I’m exploring is integrating multiple smart home devices from different brands. It’s been a bit of a challenge, but I’m learning a lot about compatibility and configuration. For instance, setting up my Wyze Video Doorbell Pro and Chime Pro has been interesting. I’ve noticed that the Chime Pro creates an SSID starting with “wzap” when it’s online. Does anyone else have experience with this setup? How secure is the SSID and password used by the Chime Pro? I’m also curious if there are any optimizations or tweaks to ensure smooth operation, especially with other devices on the network.

On a lighter note, I’ve been blown away by the community’s DIY projects. Seeing everyone’s creativity really inspires me to try more projects myself. If anyone has a favorite DIY they’d recommend, I’d be happy to give it a try!

Lastly, I’m looking into improving my home’s security setup. I’ve heard great things about the Onkyo integration, but I’m struggling with getting all sources to work reliably. The CD and phono sources are perfect, but the CBL/SAT source isn’t switching as expected. I’d appreciate any advice or workarounds others might have encountered. Security is a top priority, so getting this sorted would make a huge difference.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts and experiences!
