Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home technology lately, and I have to say, it’s been both exciting and a bit overwhelming! I wanted to share some of my experiences and ask a few questions to see if others have tackled similar challenges.
First off, I’ve been really curious about family location tracking. I know there are solutions like Family Link that help track where my kids are, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to integrate this directly into my smart home setup. Ideally, I’d love to have all family members see each other’s locations on a shared map, maybe even through Google Maps. Has anyone found a seamless way to do this? I’d love to hear about any apps or devices that make this easier!
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with smart energy switches and plugs. It’s amazing how much control you can have over your energy usage, but I’m curious about the technical side. For instance, I’m working on a smartapp where I want to reset the energy counter on an Aeon Smart Energy Switch when it’s turned off. I’ve managed to do this on my Android app, but I’m struggling to find the right documentation or commands to implement this functionality programmatically. If anyone has insights or resources, I’d be grateful!
Another area I’ve been exploring is smart lighting. I recently picked up some Govee Bluetooth bulbs, and while they’re great for ambiance, I’d love to know if they can react to music. Imagine setting the mood with lights that pulse to the beat of your favorite song! Has anyone tried this or have tips on how to make it work?
Lastly, I’ve been thinking about integrating more EnOcean devices into my setup. I have some FT55 sensors that I’d love to use with my Homey system, but I’m not entirely sure how to connect them without additional hardware. If anyone has experience with EnOcean devices on Homey, I’d love to hear about your setup and any challenges you’ve overcome.
It’s incredible how much potential there is with smart home technology, and I’m excited to keep learning and sharing my experiences. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations you might have!
