Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to share my journey with Google Assistant and my experiences in integrating various smart devices. As a long-time enthusiast of home automation, I’ve been using Google Nest, Apple HomeKit, and Philips Hue devices, and I must say, the ecosystem is truly impressive. However, I’ve encountered a peculiar issue with Google Assistant that I’d love to discuss.
Recently, I noticed that when I command Google Assistant to turn on or off my Sony DAB media player, it triggers the service twice on Home Assistant’s service bus. This results in the device toggling on and then off, which is quite frustrating. Interestingly, when I use Apple Home integration for the same device, it works seamlessly with just one event. This makes me confident that the issue lies within the Google Assistant integration. I’ve tried adjusting my configuration and using filters to ignore repeated events, but I’m still not entirely sure what’s causing the duplication. Any insights or suggestions from the community would be invaluable!
On a lighter note, I’ve been experimenting with setting up a smart lighting system using RGBIC Pro for my Christmas tree. It’s been a delightful project, and I’m excited to see how it transforms my living space. Speaking of lighting, I’ve also been exploring the possibilities of using Govee products, especially their waterproof LED lights for the bathroom, which I think would add a nice touch to my home.
I’d love to hear how others are managing their smart devices and if anyone has encountered similar issues with Google Assistant. Let’s share our experiences and tips to help each other optimize our smart homes! ![]()
