Exploring Google Assistant Integration and Smart Home Automation

Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. I’ve been using Google Assistant for quite some time now, and it’s been working perfectly. However, I recently had to switch my Google account due to some issues with Google Suite, and now I’m trying to get everything set up again with my new Gmail user. I followed the instructions from the Home Assistant documentation, replaced the necessary files, and restarted Home Assistant, but I’m encountering some login issues. Has anyone else faced similar challenges when switching Google accounts? I’d love to hear any tips or tricks you might have for a smooth transition.

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with creating custom integrations using Python and requests_html. I’m working on a scraping sensor to pull data from a specific website, but I’m running into some runtime errors. Initially, I tried a non-async approach, but that didn’t work out. Now, I’ve switched to async, but I’m still hitting roadblocks with the same line of code. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m determined to figure this out. If anyone has experience with async scraping or similar issues, I’d be grateful for some guidance.

I also wanted to touch on the topic of energy monitoring and self-sufficiency. I’ve been looking into how to calculate the degree of self-sufficiency for a photovoltaic system, which is the percentage of electricity a household can supply itself using solar power. It’s fascinating to see how much impact a solar system can have, especially when combined with energy storage solutions. I’d love to hear about others’ experiences with solar panels and energy dashboards in their smart homes.

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the integration of new devices, like the SONOFF ZBMINI Zigbee Two Way Smart Switch. Unfortunately, after a day of working perfectly, it went offline, and I can’t seem to get it back online. I’ve tried restarting it, but no luck so far. If anyone has encountered this issue or has any troubleshooting tips, I’d be really appreciative.

Overall, this journey into smart home automation is both exciting and a bit challenging, but I’m learning so much along the way. I’d love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have. Let’s keep the conversation going!
