Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating the Google Chromecast Audio into my smart home setup. It’s been a fantastic addition, especially for background music and notifications. However, I did run into an issue where the Chromecast would go to sleep after periods of inactivity, which would disrupt my automated routines.
I tried a few solutions, including setting up automations to wake it up periodically. While this worked temporarily, it wasn’t the most seamless solution. After some research, I discovered a more reliable method by adjusting the Chromecast’s settings through the Google Home app. By enabling ‘Always play audio,’ I ensured that the device stays active and ready for my automations without needing constant wake-up calls.
