Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips with you all. ![]()

Starting off, I’ve been absolutely blown away by how seamlessly Google Home integrates with various smart devices. From controlling my lights to adjusting the thermostat, it’s been a game-changer for my daily routine. One feature I particularly love is the ability to set up routines using Google Assistant. For example, saying, “Hey Google, good morning” automatically turns on my coffee maker, adjusts the thermostat, and starts my playlist—all before I even get out of bed! ![]()

However, I did run into a bit of a snag when trying to control my air conditioning units. Initially, I couldn’t figure out how to adjust the temperature using just my voice. After a bit of research, I discovered that installing the vThermostat app alongside the Remote Control app solved the issue. Now, I can easily say, “Hey Google, set the temperature to 72 degrees”, and it works like a charm! ![]()

Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is setting up notifications for when my garage door has been open for too long. I’ve heard that SmartThings can help with this, but I’m still figuring out the best way to implement it. If anyone has tips or apps they’d recommend, I’d be super grateful! ![]()

On the topic of cameras, I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and while they’re great for monitoring, I’ve noticed some quirks. For instance, enabling continuous recording on the SD card works perfectly, but setting up motion detection schedules has been a bit tricky. I ended up creating separate rules for nighttime and daytime settings, which seems to be working well. ![]()
