Exploring Google Home's Music Player Integration

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the latest updates with Google Home and wanted to share my experience. Recently, I noticed that my music players were being categorized under lights in Google Home. At first, it was a bit confusing, but I realized it’s because the devices have a ‘level’ property, which Google interprets as a light. While it’s cool that the volume control shows up, it’s a bit annoying when voice commands for lights start affecting my music devices.

After some research, I found that this might be an update on the HomeKit side rather than Google’s. I tried disabling the MusicPlayer capability in the device driver, and voilà! The devices reverted to switches in Google Home. This definitely feels like a HomeKit change.

I think it would be awesome if there was an advanced mode in the Google Home app to allow more control over device-type mappings, especially for those of us who enjoy tinkering with home automation. It’s a minor tweak, but it makes a big difference in usability! :dart:

Has anyone else encountered this or found a workaround? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
