I’ve recently been diving into the world of smart lighting and security, and I wanted to share my experiences and some tips I’ve picked up along the way. 
Starting with Govee Lighting, I’ve been absolutely blown away by their products. I installed a couple of their downlights in my living room, and the difference in ambiance is night and day. The IP67 waterproof rating and 3M adhesive backing make them perfect for outdoor use too, which I’m planning to explore soon. The App-based control is a lifesaver for on-the-go adjustments, and the DreamColor feature adds a fun, vibrant touch to my setup. I can’t wait to sync them to music for my next gathering! 
On the security front, I’ve been a long-time fan of Wyze Cameras. Their integration with Home Assistant has been seamless, and the two-way audio feature is a huge plus. However, I ran into an issue where button press notifications weren’t reaching both my devices. After some digging, I realized it was a setting issue within the app. Ensuring both devices were on the same account and checking notification permissions solved the problem. It’s a small tweak, but it makes a big difference in reliability. 
For anyone looking to integrate Shelly Devices into their setup, I’ve found them to be incredibly versatile. The Shelly Vintage A60 bulb, for instance, offers a perfect balance of energy efficiency and smart features. The only hiccup I encountered was the standby power consumption, which was a bit higher than expected. However, it’s a minor trade-off for the convenience they provide. 
I’ve also been exploring the Ring vs Blink debate. While both are solid choices, I appreciate Blink’s simplicity and affordability. Their integration with Hubitat has been smooth, and the $30/year subscription for cloud storage is a bargain compared to some alternatives. That said, I understand the privacy concerns with Ring, and I’m glad Blink offers a more straightforward experience. 
Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with IFTTT to automate my smart home setup further. It’s a fantastic tool for creating custom workflows, especially when combined with Hubitat. I’ve set up a routine where my lights dim and my camera activates when motion is detected, creating a seamless security system. The possibilities are truly endless!
