Exploring Govee Matter Lights and Multi-Hub Pairing

Recently, I’ve been exploring the capabilities of Govee Matter lights, and I must say, they’ve been a delightful addition to my smart home setup. I came across an interesting challenge: pairing these lights with multiple smart hubs simultaneously. After some research and experimentation, I discovered that it’s indeed possible to pair Govee Matter lights with up to three different smart hubs, which opens up a world of possibilities for integration and customization.

Here’s a quick rundown of how I managed to pair my Govee lights with both Apple Home and Alexa:

  1. Apple Home Setup: I started by opening the Apple Home app and locating my Govee light. Tapping into its settings, I enabled pairing mode and noted down the numeric code provided.

  2. Alexa Integration: Switching over to the Alexa app, I navigated to the device setup section and selected ‘Other’ under the device type. Upon seeing the Matter logo, I chose the numeric code option and entered the code I had copied earlier. Alexa recognized the light seamlessly!

  3. Naming and Identification: To avoid confusion, I appended ‘Matter’ to the device name in Alexa. This helps in distinguishing it from other devices, especially when using the Govee skill within Alexa.

The process was surprisingly straightforward, and the ability to control these lights through both platforms without any lag is fantastic. I’m excited to explore further integrations and see how this enhances my smart home experience.

If anyone has questions or needs assistance with similar setups, feel free to reach out! I’m happy to share my findings and help others navigate this process.
