Exploring Govee RGBIC and Tradfri Group Automation

Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to share my recent journey with Govee RGBIC and setting up a group automation with Tradfri lights. :star2:

I recently purchased the Govee RGBIC 100ft kit for my front yard, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. The vibrant colors and ease of control have really enhanced my outdoor lighting experience. However, I wanted to extend this setup to the backyard, but my installer mentioned the controller was maxed out. I reached out to the community for advice and was pleasantly surprised by the support. Turns out, I can control both sets within one Govee app account, which is a huge relief! :tada:

Meanwhile, I’ve been diving into OpenHAB to create a group of IKEA Tradfri color-temperature bulbs. The goal was to control brightness and color temperature for all 7 bulbs with a single command. Initially, it was a bit overwhelming, but with some research and community help, I managed to set it up seamlessly. Now, adjusting the entire ambiance of my living room is as easy as sliding a single slider. :earth_africa::sparkles:

I also wanted to touch on notifications. Earlier, I set up an automation using Google AI to send descriptions of CCTV motion events via notifications. While it worked, I missed having a history of these notifications. After some digging, I found a solution using Home Assistant’s built-in logging capabilities, which now allows me to track and search past events effortlessly. :clipboard::mag:

Lastly, I’m curious about others’ experiences with Govee products. Their contributions to the community are truly commendable, and I’m excited to see what they come up with next. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Govee setups, I’d love to hear them! :raised_hands:

Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
