Exploring Govee String Light Automation

Hi everyone,

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how much I’ve been able to automate my home using Govee string lights. I recently picked up the H7020 model, and I must say, the 40 preset scenes and DIY options have been a game-changer for me. The ability to customize the lighting to match different moods or events has completely transformed my living space.

One thing I’ve been particularly impressed with is the “blank” color option. It’s such a simple feature, but it allows me to turn off specific bulbs without affecting the entire setup. This has been incredibly useful, especially when I want to create a more intimate atmosphere in certain areas of my home.

I’ve also been experimenting with integrating my Govee lights into my existing smart home ecosystem. Using openHAB, I’ve set up some basic automations that trigger the lights based on time of day or specific events. For example, my lights now dim gradually in the evening, creating a relaxing ambiance as the day winds down.

However, I have come across a minor issue. When I set up a scene in my automation app, the lights sometimes default to a slightly dimmed blue instead of the scene I’ve programmed. I’ve checked the firmware, and everything seems up to date. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has any tips on how to resolve it.

Another thing I’ve noticed is the vibrant color range of the H7020. It’s amazing how these lights can completely change the vibe of a room with just a touch of a button. I’ve even started experimenting with color transitions to match different activities, like creating a calming yellow hue for movie nights or a lively pink for parties.

I’m also curious about the differences between the H7020 and the upcoming H7021 model. From what I’ve read, the H7021 is supposed to offer even more advanced features, but I’m happy with my current setup. Still, it’s exciting to think about the possibilities with the new model.

Overall, I’m really satisfied with my Govee string lights. They’ve added so much convenience and personality to my home. I can’t wait to see what other innovations Govee comes up with in the future!

If anyone has any tips or experiences to share about their Govee setups, I’d love to hear them. Happy automating! :rocket:
