Exploring Govee V6.2 and My DIY Smart Home Journey

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting adventure! One of the devices that caught my attention is the Govee V6.2. From what I gather, it’s packed with features that make home automation seamless. I’m particularly intrigued by its ability to integrate with multiple ecosystems, which is something I’ve been looking for to tie together my various smart devices.

Speaking of integration, I’ve been working on a DIY project to connect my Shelly RGBW with a Shelly i3 switch. The goal is to control the lighting in my living room with just a tap. The setup seemed straightforward—1 press for on/off, 1 long press for full brightness, and 2 presses for 10% brightness. But here’s the kicker: when I press it twice, the lights go to 10% brightness for a couple of seconds and then jump back to full brightness! It’s a bit frustrating, especially since it works perfectly when I disable the Shelly Cloud. I’m wondering if there’s a workaround that allows Alexa to still control it without the cloud interference.

Another area I’ve been exploring is device automation. I’ve set up a RESTful sensor to track my stock trading profit, and I want to get notified when the profit rate changes rapidly. However, I’m stuck on how to compare the current sensor state with its previous state. I know I can set high or low limits, but comparing the change itself is proving to be a challenge. If anyone has tips or tricks on how to achieve this, I’d be grateful!

On a lighter note, I stumbled upon a fun DIY project where someone converted a spline sketch into a boundary in Drafting. It’s amazing how such small tweaks can make a big difference in the design process. I’m inspired to try something similar with my own projects.

Lastly, I’m keeping an eye out for new products. The GoveeLife Electric Kettle Pro sounds like a game-changer with its preset temperatures and boil-dry protection. I can’t wait to see if it lives up to the hype!

Overall, this journey into smart home automation has been filled with learning curves and moments of triumph. I’m excited to see where this path leads next and to share more insights as I explore further.
