Exploring Govee's New LED Strips and Smart Lock Customization

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some exciting updates and experiences with my recent smart home projects. First off, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with the new Govee COB strip lights! They arrived in a sleek, high-quality package, and the installation was a breeze. Fitting them under my TV stand has completely transformed the ambiance of my living room. I only used 1 meter of the LEDs, leaving me with 4 meters for future projects—so many possibilities ahead! If anyone has any creative ideas for LED setups, I’d love to hear them!

Another project I’ve been diving into is customizing my smart lock. I’ve been using the Smart Lock 2.0 for a while now, and while it’s been reliable, I’ve always felt the calibration process could be more intuitive. I’ve been experimenting with creating a learning mode for the lock, where it can ‘teach’ itself the ideal positions for locked and unlocked states. This would eliminate the trial-and-error with offset sliders and make the setup process much smoother for users. If anyone has thoughts or suggestions on this idea, I’d love to hear them!

On a different note, I’ve also been exploring the integration of my smart devices with Home Assistant. One challenge I’ve encountered is setting up user permissions properly. I created an extra user account for my family, but they couldn’t access advanced settings unless logged in as admin. I figured out that saving changes in the admin interface was necessary, but it was a bit confusing at first. I’d love to hear how others manage user permissions and customizations in their setups!

Lastly, I wanted to give a shoutout to the amazing community here. The tips and tricks I’ve picked up from others have been invaluable. Whether it’s troubleshooting connectivity issues or finding creative ways to use smart devices, this community truly makes the smart home experience better. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and experiences!

If anyone has questions or wants to discuss any of these topics further, feel free to reach out. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! :rocket:
