Hi everyone, I wanted to share some of my experiences and thoughts about HACS and the recent API connectivity issues I’ve encountered. It seems like many of us have faced problems with HACS disappearing and reappearing, along with various errors related to api.github.com. I’ve noticed that these issues often stem from temporary network disruptions or DNS problems, but they can be quite frustrating when they occur.
First, I’d like to acknowledge the hard work of the HACS team. Their efforts have made integrating custom components into Home Assistant much more straightforward. However, the dependency on external APIs does introduce some vulnerabilities. I’ve found that using a reliable internet connection and ensuring that my router’s DNS settings are optimized can help mitigate some of these issues.
One thing I’ve been experimenting with is setting up a local cache for HACS components. This way, even if api.github.com is temporarily unavailable, I can still access the necessary files from my local network. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it’s been effective for me so far.
I’m also curious to hear how others are handling these API-related issues. Have you found any specific solutions or workarounds that have made a difference in your setup? I’d love to learn more about the strategies the community is using to ensure smoother operation of their Home Assistant installations.
In the meantime, I’ll keep monitoring the situation and sharing any additional insights or solutions I come across. Happy automating everyone!
