Exploring High Brightness Smart Bulbs for Garage Use

I’ve been exploring the possibility of upgrading my garage lighting with a smart bulb, but I’ve hit a bit of a snag. Let me share my experience and see if anyone has any insights or solutions!

My current setup uses a dumb 200W LED bulb in a tight enclosure, and while it’s bright, it’s not exactly convenient. I’d love to switch to a smart bulb for better control, but I’m struggling to find one that matches the brightness of my current setup. Most smart bulbs I’ve come across max out at around 100W, which just doesn’t cut it for my needs.

I’ve been researching Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Matter bulbs, but the brightest I can find still falls short. I’m almost certain the answer is “no,” but I thought I’d ask the community anyway. Has anyone come across a smart bulb with a brightness rating above 100W? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

One thing to note is that my garage door opener includes a built-in light switch, so installing a smart switch isn’t an option. I’m limited to bulbs that can be integrated directly into my existing setup. If anyone has managed to achieve similar brightness with a different approach, I’d love to hear about it!

On a lighter note, I’ve been impressed by the ease of setup with Matter-enabled devices, especially the Govee bulbs I recently tried. The QR code setup was surprisingly smooth, and they’ve been reliable so far. It’s a shame they don’t offer higher wattage options!

If anyone has any tips, tricks, or alternative solutions, I’d be thrilled to hear them. Let’s see if we can crack this puzzle together!
