Exploring Hive Device Integration and Zigbee Configuration

Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of Hive devices and wanted to share my experience, especially since the upcoming cutoff in November 2021 has made me proactive in finding a reliable setup. I’ve got a mix of Hive Active thermostats, plugs, door sensors, and light bulbs, and I wanted to ensure they integrate seamlessly into my Home Assistant ecosystem.

Initially, I faced some challenges with Zigbee compatibility, but I stumbled upon a solution that worked beautifully. I set up a Raspberry Pi with HAAS and used a CC2351 Zigbee stick. The key was pairing one of the Hive Active plugs directly to the coordinator. From there, I was able to pair all my other Hive devices—thermostats, plugs, sensors, and lights—off of that single plug. It’s been a game-changer! Every device is detected and identified without any network errors, which was a common issue with other Zigbee hubs I tried.

I’d love to hear if others have had similar experiences or if there are alternative setups that work well. Whether you’re dealing with Hive devices or other Zigbee-based products, sharing tips and tricks always helps the community grow. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate the sometimes tricky world of smart home integration!

Cheers,
