I’ve recently dipped my toes into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an exciting journey!
I just got my Home Assistant setup, and I’m thrilled to see how seamlessly it integrates with my devices. Using MQTT with an API key, I’ve managed to connect over 150 segments across both the Home Assistant app and Apple Home Kit. It’s amazing to see everything come together, but I’m still figuring out the finer details.
One thing I’m currently exploring is adding my Govee lights to the mix. I have six of them, and I’d love to control their on/off status and color changes directly through Home Assistant. However, I’ve noticed that there are a lot of segments showing up, and I’m not entirely sure how to manage or delete them if needed. If anyone has tips on organizing these segments, I’d be grateful! ![]()
Another area I’m curious about is creating more complex automation scenarios. For instance, I’d love to set up a system where motion sensors trigger lights to turn on in red, then change to yellow after motion stops, and finally turn green after two minutes before turning off after ten. The challenge here is figuring out how to interrupt the timers if motion is detected again. I’ve heard scripts might be the way to go, but I’m not entirely sure how to set them up. Any guidance would be fantastic! ![]()
On the hardware side, I’ve also come across some interesting products like the Panasonic H&C air conditioner integration and the Tuya water level sensor. It’s great to see local alternatives like the Panasonic integration that don’t require online accounts. I’m eager to test these out and see how they perform in my setup. ![]()
Lastly, I’ve been impressed by the community’s creativity, like the custom gallery panel for viewing camera images and videos. It’s inspiring to see how others are enhancing their Home Assistant experience with personal touches. I might even try my hand at some customizations once I get more comfortable with the platform. ![]()
Overall, this journey into smart home automation is both challenging and rewarding. I’m looking forward to learning more and sharing my experiences as I continue to explore this fascinating world! ![]()
