I’ve been using Home Assistant for a few weeks now, and it’s been an incredible learning experience. Let me walk you through some of the challenges and triumphs I’ve encountered.
One of my first projects was setting up door sensors. I’ve been researching the best options and found a few recommendations from the community. After some trial and error, I settled on a reliable model that works seamlessly with my setup. The ease of configuration in Home Assistant compared to my previous experience with OpenHAB2 has been a breath of fresh air! If anyone has tips on optimizing these sensors for better reliability, I’d love to hear them.
Another area I’ve been focusing on is media tracking. I’m using an Xbox One X, and I’d love to log all the movies and TV shows I watch. I’ve come across some suggestions about using sensors to track this data, but I’m still figuring out the best approach. Does anyone have experience with integrating media tracking into their history or even scrobbling to Trakt? I’d appreciate any insights!
Speaking of customization, I’ve been experimenting with Lovelace themes. I’ve been using a dark theme for quite some time, but recently, the toggle switches have become harder to see on my phone. I’ve been tweaking the color settings in my theme file to make them more visible. Here’s a snippet of my current theme configuration:
