I’ve been diving into the world of home automation over the past few months, and it’s been an incredible journey! 
I started with OpenHAB and quickly realized the power of MQTT for integrating various devices. Let me share some of my experiences and tips with you all!
First off, setting up MQTT was a game-changer. I use it to connect my ESP32 sensors to OpenHAB, and it’s been running smoothly. The best part? I can monitor everything from my phone using the MQTT Explorer app. 
One challenge I faced was getting my RGBW LED strip to work seamlessly with OpenHAB. After some trial and error, I figured out that using the big-slider-card and mushroom-light-card custom cards made a huge difference in the user experience. I even managed to adjust the color control size to match the slider perfectly! 
Another interesting project I’m working on is automating my blinds using Node-RED. It’s been a bit tricky, but incorporating weather data has made it so much more efficient. Now, my blinds adjust based on sunlight and even account for rainy days!
