Exploring HomeKit and Home Assistant Integration

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions.

I’ve been using the HomeKit Bridge integration in Home Assistant to reflect my non-HomeKit devices into Apple’s ecosystem, and it’s been working beautifully. I can now use Siri to control my lights, thermostat, and other devices seamlessly. However, I’ve noticed that my devices that are directly registered in HomeKit aren’t showing up in Home Assistant. Is this a one-way integration, or is there a way to make them visible in HA? I found an integration called Homekit Device, but the documentation suggests decoupling devices from Apple’s Home app, which didn’t work for me.

I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully integrated directly registered HomeKit devices into Home Assistant without issues. Any tips or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with automations using my Aqara sensors and Shelly devices. It’s amazing how these small devices can make such a big difference in daily life. For example, I set up an automation where if the lights are left on for more than 5 minutes, I get a notification, and if no one turns them off within an hour, Shelly automatically turns them off. It’s been a great way to save energy and reduce waste.

If anyone has similar setups or creative automation ideas, I’d love to hear about them! Let’s keep the smart home magic flowing. :rocket:
