Exploring HomeKit and Matter Integration with SmartThings

Hi everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of HomeKit and Matter integration with SmartThings, and I wanted to share my experiences and some questions I have. I’ve heard that Matter could potentially make devices from different ecosystems work together seamlessly, which is super exciting!

I’ve been using HomeKit for a while now, and I’m curious about how it interacts with SmartThings via Matter. Specifically, I’d love to know if SmartThings can expose zwave devices like contact sensors or leak sensors to HomeKit. I’ve heard Hubitat does something like this, but I’m not entirely sure how it works with SmartThings. If anyone has tried this, I’d love to hear about your setup and any challenges you faced!

On another note, I’ve been using Govee products for a while now, and they’ve been a game-changer for my home lighting. Their bulbs are not only energy-efficient but also incredibly durable. I recently had a power surge due to lightning, and my Govee bulbs outlasted everything else. It’s amazing how they still perform even with direct AC power!

I’m also looking into setting up some advanced automation with my lights. I’ve read about using MQTT with Zigbee2MQTT for controlling Sonoff switches, and I’m curious if there’s a way to set persistent on/off times directly on the device. I know automations can be set up in Home Assistant, but I’d love a solution that works even when HA isn’t running. Has anyone experimented with this?

Lastly, I’m exploring the integration of Open Thread Border Router with my setup. I upgraded to the latest version and encountered some errors, but after some troubleshooting, everything seems to be working smoothly now. It’s great to see how these technologies come together to create a seamless smart home experience!

If anyone has tips, tricks, or experiences to share on any of these topics, I’d be thrilled to hear from you! Happy tinkering everyone! :rocket:
