Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and it’s been an exciting journey! I wanted to share some of my experiences and findings, especially regarding HomeKit compatibility and setting up automated routines. First off, I’ve been on the hunt for reliable outdoor cameras that work seamlessly with HomeKit. After some research, I stumbled upon the Lorex system, but it wasn’t explicitly mentioned as HomeKit-compatible. I ended up using their app, which works, but I’d love to find something that integrates more smoothly with my Apple ecosystem. Ideally, I’d love to check my cameras directly from my Apple TV without digging out my phone every time. On another note, I’ve been experimenting with setting up a custom Python script to control my lights based on the sun’s position and weather data. While the concept is solid, I ran into some hurdles with interpreter paths and virtual environments. It’s been a bit of a puzzle, but I’m hopeful I can figure it out with some community help. Automation has been a game-changer for me, especially with presence detection. I’ve set up routines that trigger when family members come home or leave, adjusting lights, thermostats, and security systems accordingly. However, I’ve noticed that sometimes the system doesn’t trigger as expected when multiple people are involved. It’s a minor hiccup, but I’d love to hear how others handle such scenarios. One thing I’m really excited about is the integration of Zigbee devices. I recently added a Shelly EM3 to monitor energy usage, and it’s been fascinating to see how it interacts with other devices. I’d love to explore more ways to automate energy management without compromising on convenience. Overall, the journey has been filled with both triumphs and learning curves. I’m grateful to be part of such a supportive community where I can bounce ideas off others and find solutions together. If anyone has tips or experiences to share, especially regarding HomeKit integration or custom scripting, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the smart home revolution rolling! ![]()
